Mechanical
Supply Company has had a exciting history of steady
& solid growth since we first starting supplying
industrial pipe, valves, fittings and related products
to companies in North Carolina & South Carolina.
A message from the President:
Mechanical Supply, (MSC) was founded in 1983 by three
employees of Ferguson Enterprises who wanted to get
back to the service and attention to detail that only
a locally owned business could provide. Two of the
founders still work for MSC, President Scott Reid
and Vice-President and CFO Dennis Mullen.
The
focus of our business runs the gamut from Industrial
PVF, Mechanical PVF and Commercial Plumbing. MSC has
provided material for Commercial, Textile, Chemical,
Pulp and Paper, Energy, Fiber Optics, Food Service
and many other applications to small local contractors
and some of the largest construction companies in
the country. Our fastest growing business is in the
valve actuation and controls, much of which we ASSEMBLE
right here in Matthews. While the emphasis in the
past has been new construction, an increasing share
of business is in the MRO and OEM sectors as customers
have become increasingly disillusioned with industry
attempts at integrated
supply and national agreements. When given the choice,
customers usually prefer a strong local supplier.
Mechanical
Supply still operates out of Matthews, N.C., a suburb
of Charlotte. MSC has moved into larger facilities
three times since its beginning. It currently operates
out of a new facility built in 2000. In addition,
MSC keeps an additional offsite pipe yard and storage
facility in nearby Indian Trail. The inventory is
among the most extensive and broad based in the region.
And, the proximity to dozens of manufacturer warehouses
in
the distribution hub of Charlotte allow the company
to provide the quickest and most complete service
to customers in the Southeast. Our fleet of trucks
is rolling to construction sites and manufacturing
plants from early in the morning until late at night.
Our
philosophy has been to carefully balance sufficient
size with the ability to provide individual attention
and local decision-making. MSC is big enough to compete
with the largest national chains. At the same time
we have a continuity of people and focus that makes
for long-term relationships with our customers. In
2002 MSC was proud to join Affiliated Distributors(AD),
the nation’s largest buying group of independent wholesalers.
Companies in AD represent over 17 Billion Dollars
in sales.
But,
the most important asset of Mechanical Supply is our
people. As we enter our third decade of business,
we have carefully assembled the top group of knowledgeable
sales people in the industry. MSC has over twenty
experienced veterans of the PVF and Plumbing industry.
People who have worked for every major supplier in
the business but now enjoy working from an environment
where they can have more influence over the service
they can provide. Many of our associates have been
here over 15 years.
